Traffic shapping in VMware Switches

One of the great features in VMware Switches is Traffic shapping, it allows you to limit the ingress and egress traffic bandwidth in Portgroup from all the connected virtual machines.

But if you have a limitation for your software or replication services you should notice that by Burst feature you can configure switch to allow a packet to flow with the maximum of peak bandwidth in a specific amount of data.

For instance when a packet wants to pass and needs a higher bandwidth the switch allows it to flow until it reach the Burst Size which we had configured before and when this amount of data passes then the bandwidth will be limited to the average again like the following picture

You can configure the traffic shaping through the Network inventory in vCenter server and then edit settings under each Portgroups.
